It was a must! It was easy for Steve to have everything I needed within arms reach while taking care of me post surgery. Sending you all the good vibes! Good luck! 🥳
I’m waiting for my surgery date which will be in September. I’m most struggling with waiting to find out if this even is adenomyosis & endometriosis as they suspect. It’s been a long road and I’m so tired. I am reading so much about adeno/endo and it fits my experience so well, but I feel like since I can’t say for sure I’m in limbo. If it’s not endo/adeno, where do I go from here? Am I just waiting for this surgery and then I will still have no answers? Or if this is it, will surgery help? I cant live like this any more. But also I have to keep on keeping on. Im 43, I have 2 kids, I’ve been pursuing this for more than a decade and have been in dealing with these issues off and on for 30+ years. I’m tired of being in pain and discomfort and trying to connect all my symptoms like a crazed conspiracy theorist. I honestly don’t know what the point of this message is, bc I don’t have a question. I’m just so tired.
I want you to know you are not alone and you have every right to feel tired. Just know that you have a community here to support you. It's easy to spiral into what if's, but I suggest that you to focus on the things you can control like your health, your lifestyle, your family and your diet, and when the times comes for your surgery you can go from there. And whatever the diagnosis, you can make a plan of action. Sending you all the positive vibes that you will find some answers and some peace. ❤️
Thank you for sharing this! I just cancelled my excision surgery (set for tomorrow) as I didn’t feel aligned with my doctor on post surgery outcomes. Would love to know who you went to in San Diego for your excisions!
Wow, that's great to go with your instinct, especially when it doesn't align with you. My surgery was with Dr. Daniel Nassar at UCSD, but I'm also a patient with Dr. Chandra Spring-Robinson who is also an endo surgeon, both are great choices in San Diego.❤️
I wish I had this guide before my first surgery. Thank you so much for sharing this vital information. Sending you lots of healing vibes for continued healing post-surgery.
My random must have for endo surgery is a squishmallow. It’s great for protecting your tummy while sleeping and especially if you have pets or children during the day who might not always be careful with the surgery site. It’s a game changer
Im curious if you have more info on the PCOS + endo combo? I feel like any symptom I have has just been chalked up to “endo is different for everyone so it’s probably just that!” How did you distinguish?
I honestly just knew something else was wrong with me the last few years. Something that’s not typical for endo is unexplained weight gain and I gained almost 50lbs in the last 2 years for literally no reason! Recovery from surgery was also particularly brutal and my inflammation got worse after. That was a huge sign. Other than that, our intuition is always right and I think we’re dismissed so much by western medicine that we’re taught to ignore that. I’ve had Endo for 22 years and some doctors would just say that i’m getting older but i’m only 34 and refused to let that be a reason why my body was suffering so much!
You mentioned on another post that you would’ve advocated for yourself as soon as you felt the endo come back, could you explain? It really resonated with me because I feel my endo is back very soon after my excision, but my surgeon tells me it is too soon! I’m not sure how else to advocate for myself in this case.
Hey Lo, I had about 7 years between my surgeries. When I had my first surgery, she said that I would most likely see her again in 2 years because I would most likely need surgery again. ….Well I radically changed my lifestyle and I pushed the timeline with diet and lifestyle, but it was around the 5 year mark when my flare ups started to really come back. My periods started to get worse again and some of my symptoms started popping back up. My story aside, I recently had endo surgeon Dr. Chandra Spring Robinson speak at our last endo events and someone brought up your same question. She said within a year is too soon, but after about 2-3 years is common, and even sometimes even longer. Hope this helps!
Great article.! Well done for taking the time to help fellow endo warriors.!
I have also dedicated time tl reliving and documenting my endo journey in the hope that I can help other women feel heard, valid, supported and held on there journeys.! Please read and share..
I would love to know what changes you made to support your PCOS! I have PCOS and just had surgery last week that confirmed I also have endo
